The Albion Jazz Ensemble, also known as the “Jazz Collective,” is comprised of students from Albion College selected by audition each fall. The Collective is open to all instrumentalists and vocalists regardless of type or style. The ensemble performs four to six concerts every school year, including off campus for Blues at the Bohm, Jazz at Relli’s, and Jazz in the Stack on campus. The Jazz Collective plays an extremely wide range of student composed and arranged repertoire as well as standard big band charts modified to work with varied instrumentation. Recent student works have included traditional jazz arrangements, alternative rock, rhythm and blues, and funk charts.
